The Role

This is a full-time in-person UI/XU Designer role based in our Leicester, England office. This individual is responsible for creating an intuitive and engaging web user experience. By applying artful web design and user interface design skills, this individual will translate requirements into interaction flows and artifacts. This individual is responsible for managing and executing the visual design process from concept to handover to engineering.

 

Responsibilities:

  • User Research: Conduct user research activities, such as interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to gather insights and understand user needs, behaviors, and preferences.
  • Wireframing and Prototyping: Create wireframes, low-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes using Figma to visualize and communicate design concepts and interactions.
  • User Interface Design: Develop visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces, considering factors like layout, typography, color schemes, and branding guidelines. Create high-fidelity mockups and design assets for development teams.
  • Interaction Design: Design intuitive and efficient user interactions, including navigation systems, input controls, and micro-interactions, to enhance the overall user experience and ensure usability.
  • Information Architecture: Structure and organize information effectively, considering content hierarchies, labeling systems, and information flows to facilitate easy navigation and findability.
  • Usability Testing: Plan and conduct usability tests on prototypes or existing interfaces, analyze feedback, and iterate designs based on user feedback and usability findings to improve the user experience.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as product managers, developers, and visual designers, to ensure the design vision is implemented effectively and to address technical constraints or feasibility issues.
  • Design Guidelines and Documentation: Create design guidelines, style guides, and design specifications to maintain consistency across different platforms and devices, and document design decisions and rationale for future reference.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A degree in a relevant field such as Graphic Design, Interaction Design, HCI (Human-Computer Interaction), or a related discipline is preferred but not required
  • Portfolio: A portfolio showcasing a range of UI/UX design projects. The portfolio should demonstrate the ability to solve design problems, showcase a variety of design deliverables (e.g., wireframes, prototypes, visual designs), and highlight the impact of your work on user experience.
  • Experience: 2-3 years of experience is preferred but not required.
  • User-Centered Design Knowledge: Proficiency in user-centered design principles and methodologies is essential. This includes understanding user research techniques, information architecture, interaction design, usability testing, and accessibility considerations.
  • Design Tools: Strong proficiency with Figma and Webflow are required
  • Interaction and Visual Design Skills: A strong grasp of interaction design principles and the ability to create visually appealing designs is crucial. This includes skills in layout, typography, color theory, iconography, and understanding how to create engaging user interfaces.
  • UX Research Skills: Familiarity with user research methods and techniques, such as conducting user interviews, surveys, usability testing, and analyzing research data.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and developers are important. Being able to articulate design decisions and provide constructive feedback needed to be successful in this role.
  • Technical Understanding: A solid understanding of the technical aspects of UI/UX design and the ability to work closely with developers to ensure the feasibility of design concepts. Familiarity with front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
